Manure Spreader

​Whatcom CD provides low-cost rental of a manure spreader for small-scale farms to efficiently distribute nutrients on their fields. This model has a 2.5 cubic yard, ground driven solids spreader (Wallenstein MX25) available for rent to residents in Whatcom County.  To be eligible to use the spreader, you must have a farm plan with the Whatcom Conservation District, or a field assessment and a recommended soil test prior to the use of the spreader.

Pick Up & Drop Off

​Pick up is Monday or Thursday, with a 30 minute pick up window between 12-4pm. Returns are the following Monday or Thursday between 8am-12pm, with a 30 minute drop off window. The pick up and drop off times you select are specific. If you are over 30 minutes late to your pick up you will forfeit your rental. If pick up from our office is a hardship, please discuss with your Whatcom CD planner at the time of rental.

Before You Rent

Within 48 hours before application, you are required to fill out the Manure Application Risk Management (ARM) worksheet. to evaluate the site-specific risk of manure running into surface water. Once your reservation is confirmed, a Farm Planner can work with you to understand this requirement.
